Together with LAMP, the GSRD Foundation are helping female entrepreneurs to set up their own Self Help Groups (SHG), supporting them to create a business and moving these women towards a sustainable livelihood in the state of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, India.

The immediate objectives of the project are to form at least 1,000 Women Self-Help Groups which will cover about 20,000 socio-culturally poor and oppressed women. The project will develop leadership qualities and capacity among 2,000 potential leaders of the 1,000 Self-Help Groups that focus on Women’s Empowerment through Sustainable Livelihood Development and Gender Justice. The project will also support at least 10,000 SHG members with a loan to start and strengthen their business enterprises. The loan will be given over a period of at least 3 years. The project also focuses on eliminating violence and gender injustice against women through the women's SHG and to help women to play an independent and self-assertive role in the upbringing and education of children.
